Indira Basti

Introduction

Indira Basti, Timarpur houses around 6,000 residents in cramped makeshift structures. The community faces inadequate sanitation, limited clean water, and healthcare, alongside issues like domestic violence, drug abuse, crime, unemployment, and high school dropout rates. Most residents are migrants in low-paying, unstable jobs, struggling with documentation and legal rights. CCAW's interventions in Indira Basti focus on addressing key challenges through comprehensive programs which include socioeconomic profiling to identify community needs, child safety initiatives to raise awareness about risks, adolescent counseling services support mental health and personal development, gender sensitization workshops to promote equality. CCAW also advocates for improved public hygiene and local infrastructure. Recreational sessions provide creative outlets, and educational excursions broaden children’s experiences. Career counseling and skill development workshops enhance knowledge and awareness about future opportunities. These efforts are aimed to support the community and create pathways for improved well-being and self-reliance.
